The way people get news is changing from old traditional ways. Many people are sharing stories, news, and posting food videos and becoming food reviewers and influencers.   Anyone can create news in 2024 you just need the followers.   Thank you for reading. I will be sharing more longmont news

New type of gas in 9 Colorado counties

Image
Hi everyone in Colorado starting June 1st 2024  nine counties in Colorado by law have to sell new type of gas til September. The federal clean act requires certain area to change the gas when pollution number reaches certain numbers.  Adam's, araphoe, boulder, Broomfield, Denver, douglas,Douglas, Jefferson, Larimer,  and weld counties starting saturday will be switching to reformulated gas.  Reformulated gas has been modified to reduce emissions and is also denser then regular gas so is less likely to evaporate.   Experts have predicted that in Colorado gas can increase around 5cent a gallon but in California is gone up 35cent a gallon.    Colorado has seen huge increase in people moving here and traffic. Not sure how much reformulated gas will help but expect gas prices to go up.    Let me know how you feel about reformulated gas?

Is this the best birria taco in Longmont Colorado?

Image
Hi foodies is this the best birria tacos in Longmont Colorado?  Chile con quesadilla just opened a location inside of Parkway Food Hall.  They been voted for best tacos and green chile last few years on Westword magazine.  I stopped by today for lunch to try it out and here is my review.  I got 3 birria tacos for $16 they were good size and not small with nice amount of meat.  Tortillas tasted different and maybe handmade?  The birria meat had good flavor and it was tender and juicy.  Consome was good but the color of broth was not dark red color like other places.  The churro banana pudding was amazing.  Right amount of sweetness and all the ingredients complimented each other well and churro was great for dipping.  Overall the food was good and I would get it again. This birria taco is up there in top 3 best birria tacos in Longmont Colorado.  Thanks for reading this blog.

Chicken Gyro from Shawarma shack in Longmont

Image
Hi foodies in Longmont. One of the first places I tried at the parkway food hall was the shawarma shack.   They sell wraps, gryos, bowls and more.  They had chicken, lamb, and falafel to choose from. I got the chicken gyro, fries, and a drink it came out around $22.    It took about 10 minutes for my food to come out.  You can watch them make the food infront of you. I didn't see them cooking the meat on the spits grill idk if they have one in the back?  The chicken was a little dried and under seasoned.  They also put to much sauce on mine. It was ok but compare to spitz I tried out last week. Spitz Mediterranean was better and better deal.   Everyone has different taste. Go give it a try atleast once if you don't try you never know if is good or not.  Thank you for reading my blog about Longmont

You can now buy alcohol on Christmas day in Colorado

Image
Yes, in Colorado, people can buy alcohol on Christmas Day from stores. In 2022, Colorado laws changed to allow retail liquor stores, liquor-licensed grocery stores, and liquor-licensed drugstores to sell alcohol on Christmas Day, as long as they are normally permitted to sell alcohol on Sundays. This change in law applies to: - Retail liquor stores - Liquor-licensed grocery stores - Liquor-licensed drugstores However, it's important to note that individual stores may still choose to be closed or have limited hours on Christmas Day, so it's a good idea to call ahead or check their social media or website to confirm their holiday hours. Additionally, some establishments may have special holiday hours or events, so it's a good idea to check ahead of time to plan your holiday celebrations. Thanks for reading the free news

Costco Review: Beef/pork meatballs wit pasta

Image
Hi foodies I was at Longmont Colorado  Costco this week when I saw a new item at the deli section.  For $4.49 a lb they had beef/pork meatballs with pasta and sauce. Most of the packages weighed 4+lbs.  It comes with 6 large meatballs and I say it was about 1/4 lb each.  I saw the workers making the meatballs  so you know is handmade.   The pasta was thick rigatoni and it was perfect to catch all the sauce.  It was also soft and tender and not mushy.  The sauce was good and tasted like the Kirkland brand sauce.   Overall it was good and I got 3 big plates out of it so it was definitely worth the money and I would get it again.

Image
Hi foodies in Longmont.  I got good news for people who love chicken wing and fries .  For a limited time buffalo wild wings is doing all you can eat boneless wings and fries for $19.99.  Is only available for dining inside and only on Mondays and Wednesdays.   For $19.99 is this really a good deal?  A 10 piece boneless wings is $13.99 and for 20 piece is $27.99.  So you have to eat atleast 20 pieces or more to make it worth it.  After couple beers and drinks and lots of fries how many wings do  you think you can really eat?  Lmk if you think this is a good deal?  Did you notice they can only offer boneless wings but not the real chicken wings? Many think boneless wings are chicken nuggets?

Could we see Aldi stores in longmont? Colorado?

Image
Did you know Colorado is one of the few states that don't have any Aldi discount grocery stores?  Aldi currently has 2381 stores in America and they are in 40 different states.  Studies have shown food items are cheaper then Walmart.  The reason why is cheaper is because everything is Aldi brand items. Same concept as trader Joe's. They are able to pass on the saving and better qulatiy control.   On march 2024 Aldi said they will be opening 800 more stores in next 5 years.  They also bought popular grocery chain called Winn Dixies and they will be converting some Winn Dixies into Aldi stores.  We could see Aldi enter Colorado market as is a popular place plus with king soopers and safeway trying to merge and selling over 90 stores? I never been to Aldi but from what I read and seen sounds like a grocery store I would go often. Is cheaper then Walmart and better quality.  Lmk if you would love to see Aldi in Colorado or longmont?

Mystery buildings on corner of 9th and main st

Image
Hi Longmont many people have driven by and seen the 2 building on 9th and main st. The one with Broncos mural  and the one next to it. As long as I been in Longmont they sat empty in a prime location.  I guess who ever owns it is not in hurry to sell or redevelop it yet.   But with the new Casa Lou Cardenas apartments built across the street maybe we will see something happen. I try to find old pictures but that seem impossible.  But from what I heard the Broncos mural building use to be gas station 20+ years ago.  And next to it use to be taco/mexican restaurant .     Lmk what kind of business you would like to see open up here?

Homeless camp trashed in Longmont

Image
Hi Longmont I was riding my bike through south main st.  And close to where Longmont museum is I saw a ditch that was trashed by the homeless people.   There were lots of trash down there from sleeping bags, clothes, food,  beer cans and more stuff.   It looks like some of the homeless people were sleeping in the little tunnel down there?   Idk why but many homeless people like to trash places and this is common thing we see all the time.  If anyone is wanting to go clean it up.  Have gloves and you need to becareful of dirty needles and feces.  City workers probably has to go clean it up.  What is the solution to this issue beside homeless people cleaning it up?
