New pickleball court at fox hill club in Longmont

Image
Did you know pickleball is the fastest growing sport in America right now?   There is so much demand for pickleball places like fox hill club in longmont decided to open 6 pickleball courts on their property for is members. The big difference between pickleball and tennis is the court is the court size. Pickleball is shorter measuring at 20feet by 44 feet vs 60 feet by 120 feet for tennis courts. This makes pickleball quicker and fast paced game. Another difference is the equipment they use. In pickleball they use light paddles and low bouncing plastic balls vs in tennis they use heavy raquets and rubber cover balls.  In Longmont pickleball is very popular. From what I heard the outdoor courts at hover acres park and Clark Centennial park are always busy and full.   And 3rd shot pickleball in longmont recently expanded to 8 pickleball courts. For people interested playing pickleball at fox hill club it cost $1500 for initiation fee and $150 a month after that....

Armed robbers disguised as delivery workers

Image
On June 12, 2024 in Aurora Colorado.  Three people disguised as delivery workers came to a house saying they had a package for them and holding a box. Once the owners opened the door 3 armed men came in and robbed the place.   Here is good tips to prevent this. - You can get a PO BOX  or use a drop off center and pick it up - UPS and Fed ex drivers have branded uniforms - If it looks suspicious or you're not expecting any packages. Don't open the door.  - Tell kids not to open doors to strangers and keep the doors locked.  Thank you for reading

Free pizza in Longmont

Image
Pizza lovers who live in Longmont Colorado according to a facebook post by Antonio's  real New York pizza.  They said if anyone  can show up on short notice on Wednesday or Thursday DM their Facebook page.  And you will be selected to try free pizza slices.  For people who don't know Antonio's real New York pizza is a popular place in Estes park that has been open since 2014.  This year they decided to open another location in downtown Longmont Colorado.  In 2006 the family moved to Colorado from Long Island New York. At that time they really couldn't find pizza and other food they use to eat all the time back home.  So that's how the pizza empire all started.   They have won awards for the pizza and many people say this is one of the best NY style pizza in Colorado.    Thank you for reading

Should landlords who got help during covid be allowed to sue renters?

Image
During the COVID-19 pandemic, both landlords and renters faced significant challenges, but the assistance and support provided to each group varied. In many cases, landlords received more help than renters, especially in the early stages of the pandemic. Here are some reasons why: 1. Government assistance: Governments and banks offered relief to landlords, such as mortgage forbearance, loan modifications, and eviction moratoriums. While these measures helped renters indirectly, they primarily benefited landlords. 2. Rental income protection: Many governments and insurance companies provided rental income protection to landlords, ensuring they continued to receive income even if tenants couldn't pay rent. 3. Tax benefits: Landlords could claim tax deductions for rental income losses, which helped offset their financial burdens. 4. Legal support: Landlords often had better access to legal resources and advocacy groups to navigate eviction proceedings and rent collection. In contrast,...

Hi foodies a new restaurant is having grand opening on Monday June 10th 2024 in Longmont Colorado.   Den on eleventh is a new restaurant opening up at 1111 Francis st where the old longmont public restaurant use to be.   Beau and Taylor Raffensperger  two brothers who grew up in Longmont and went to skyline high school and decided to open a restaurant in longmont where they grew up.   At the Den on eleventh the menu will consist of mostly new American cuisine.  They will also be focusing on steaks and fresh seafood.  Steaks will be locally sourced and seafood flown in from east coast.  Something that is missing in Longmont right now.  I looked at the menu and the cheapest thing you can order is $9 and $37 for ribeye steak.  Most items were priced around $15-$20. Median Mortgage payment rises to all time high in America

Image
The median mortgage payment rises to a record high of $2,894 per month in the 4 week period ending on  May 5th 2024.  That's an increase of +14% from 2023, +23% from 2022, and +78% from 2021.  These numbers don't include taxes, insurance, utilities, and maintenance costs. In my city of Longmont Colorado median listing home price was $625,000 and median sold price was $585,000 during the month of May. Owning a home is not affordable anymore in Colorado and in many cities in America in 2024.  Idk if is possible for most millenials or Gen Zers to buy a home?  According to zillow average rent price for all properties in Colorado is  $2275 a month and that includes apartments.   So now many people are renting rooms but room rentals are $700++ with 3+ roomates.  Thank you for reading and let me know how you feel about this?

Can CU Buffaloes football win the championship in 2024

Image
2024 college football season is about to start and the hype around CU Buffaloes Football team is even stronger this year then last year thanks to coach Prime.  For second year in a row season tickets have been sold out. Fans are excited this year after the disappointing 2023 year where CU had a disappointing record of 4-8.   Many fans might be surprised but CU Buffaloes are the 4th most bet team to win the 2024 championship. They went from +20000 to+12500 on betting sites.   Some of the reasons why many think CU will do good is they moved back to BIG 12 conference which is easier conference now without Texas or Oklahoma. Also this will be the first year for 12 team format for playoffs.   Coach Prime has many things to prove after disappointing 2023 year.  This year will also most likely be last year for his son Shedeur Sanders  as he is projected top 3 pick in the NFL draft.  Last year he broke  the single season passing record with...

We could see many people coming from boulder to Longmont for fireworks show

Image
I just learned today the popular longtime fireworks show at folson field in Boulder Colorado has been canceled this year on a short notice.   For last 24 year's Wk real estate has been sponsoring the event and have decided to end it.   Now the multi agency in boulder consisting of visit boulder, CU and boulder of chamber of commerce  are looking for other ways to fund it or new sponsors.  I'm surprised the city can't fund the fireworks show themselves?  CU can pay Deion Sanders over $29.5 million but not a fireworks show?  If Boulder don't find new funding for fireworks show.  We could see more people coming to watch it in Longmont. This year Longmont fireworks show is at a new location. They want most people to watch in downtown area.  Wibbys and other places will be open.  Lmk how you feel about this and thank you for reading.

Longmont mobile parks could get big help

Image
So today I learned that Boulder county is trying to get $10 million dollar funding to help number of mobile parks.  Is rare to see mobile home parks in boulder county but there are still number of them around. Many are older and need repairs and help.   If approved the funding will come from department of housing and urban development.  Here is where some of the money is being used for. They need $4.28 million to help 20 low income people replace their mobile homes. Another $2 million to help 100 low income people fix up mobile homes built after June 15, 1976.  Another $2 million to build waste water treatment facility for San souci co op.   Longmont Colorado has number of mobile home parks and many are older and rundown.  Idk how much of the money will be coming to Longmont but it can be a good new for people living in mobile home parks. For people interested learning more the county is having public hearing thru zoom every Tuesday from 5:30- 6:3...

Could we see paid parking in downtown Longmont?

Image
On a beautiful Sunday afternoon I was walking along downtown Longmont Colorado.  I saw many new restaurants about to open up and constructions happening. The construction on the hotel longmont is underway and suppose to open in 2025.   Turning downtown into more vibrant and busy place. Bringing more people and visitors to walk around and enjoy food, shopping and night life.  As I was walking down 2nd and main st area I saw a free parking sign it said people can only park for 3 hrs free and unlimited on weekends and holidays.  It made me start wondering how long the parking lot will be free?  It looks like to me people would pay to park there?  I know they have some extra parking spots in the apartments but I think we could see issues with parking in the future in downtown?  Thank you for reading and lmk what you think?

Longmont might get In N Out Burger

Image
Hi foodies in Longmont Colorado.  Did you know Longmont was chosen as one of the cities for new In N Out burger location?  They have proposed a location next to Costco at hwy 119 and harvest moon drive.  On march 14th they had a meeting with the city and neighborhood to answer questions. Is in early stages right now but if everything gets approved it will  take about 8-9 months to build the in n out restaurant.   I never had in n out before but is very popular in California and people go crazy over it.  If longmont location gets approved this location will be very busy imo.  Hwy 119 is already busy and lots of traffic. Then you got all the costco customers.  Lmk what you love to get at In N Out and is it worth the hype? Thank you for reading
